Can I mix these skincare ingredients?

Pick two ingredients, or paste two ingredient lists. See if they’re fine together, better on different nights, or one for the morning and one for night.

Type an ingredient, or paste a whole ingredient list.

Questions

How do you know if two ingredients can be mixed?

We use the same rules as the Skin Girlie app: retinoids and exfoliating acids or benzoyl peroxide go on different nights, two exfoliants go on different nights, one retinoid is enough, and vitamin C stays away from benzoyl peroxide.

Which skincare ingredients should not be used together?

The main ones: a retinoid with an AHA, BHA or benzoyl peroxide on the same night; two exfoliating acids at once; two retinoids; and vitamin C with benzoyl peroxide. Most other pairs, like niacinamide with vitamin C, are fine.

What order should I layer skincare in?

Thinnest to thickest: cleanser, toner, serums, moisturizer, then sunscreen in the morning.

Does a face wash count?

Not really. A cleanser only stays on your skin for a minute, so tick “It’s a face wash” and it won’t clash.

Is this medical advice?

No. These are general cosmetic skincare tips. If a doctor prescribed your routine, follow theirs.
